“What, Where, Why” Wednesday

Every week I’m going to try and answer a What, Where, or Why question here on the blog. This week I am going with …

“What” Are You Reading Today?

Let’s be honest here … my currently reading shelf is a little bit out of control! I typically bounce around from book to book on a daily, sometimes hourly basis. Today however, I am trying to focus on the following two books. Why two books for the same day you ask? Well … It is an absolutely beautiful day outside today, albeit a bit hot. The sun is shining, there is a nice breeze on occasion, and quite simply I just love to sit in the sun! So what does this have to do with my reading? Well as you can see … I currently own a Kindle Fire tablet for reading e-books … and they are NOT a good choice for reading in the sun. For this reason, I typically have a backup hardcover book for reading when my Kindle becomes too annoying to ignore. So today, I am bouncing between the following two books and hoping I can go ahead and wrap them both up today (or at least very soon) and get them off my currently reading shelf!

A Court of Wings and Ruin (A Court of Thorns and Roses #3) by Sarah J. Maas

Ok so, if you read my Most Anticipated Book Releases May 2017 post, you know how much I was looking forward to this book. I absolutely LOVED A Court of Mist and Fury, and was really excited to be back in this world. I am about 60% though this one now and it has been somewhat of a slow go. It’s not really a bad slow though. I have been enjoying it while I’m reading it, but I haven’t felt compelled to pick it up again and binge read it by any means. Well … at least I wasn’t … but finally things are going down pretty hard and my interest in this book and my reading have picked up substantially! I have heard varying opinions on the ending but I hope it is everything I need it to be. This will be Maas first attempt at completing a storyline which will be very interesting to see as well.

The Novice (Summoner #1) by Taran Matharu

So I had this book on hold for quite a while at about the 40% mark because I really was not enjoying it. But, I already own the second book and wanted to at least give the series a chance. There have been a few series in my past where I hated the first book but loved the rest. So in the spirit of hope, I have been reading a few chapters at a time on this and I am happy to report that I am now having a good time with this book! I am about 60% through it now and all the things I did not like about the early development are gone … or at least not blaring. I’m not entirely sure that I’m necessarily loving it, it will most likely not rate very high in my review, but I am enjoying it now at least.

Well that about wraps up this week’s “What, Where, Why” Wednesday. I would love to know your “What”. Comment below and let me know what you’re reading today! Have a wonderful Wednesday and an awesome rest of the week!

I really want to read the Passenger series and I’m really not sure what has stopped me (except my ridiculously extensive tbr! and perhaps some less than favorable reviews of Passenger?). I have heard really great things about Wayfarer though. Enjoy your reads!

Novice is one of those books I *want* to read, but I keep hearing so many mixed reviews that it get shuffled further back on my TBR list. :/

I just finished Heart of Betrayal tonight, and am planning on moving into Rebel Spring, Percy Jackson & The Sea of Monsters, and Be My Killer next. Plus, I’ve got to start The Black Witch sometime this month too. Yeah, I’ve got a lot to read… @_@
