Can you believe June is already here?! Where does the time go?! I’m not crying about it though because there are some really awesome and highly anticipated releases coming out this June! Lot’s of great stuff to read while sitting on the beach or by the pool or wherever the summer may take you!

Song of the Current (Song of the Current #1) by Sarah Tolcser | June 6, 2017

Pirates … Politics … Mythology!

(Goodreads synopsis excerpt) Caroline Oresteia is destined for the river. For generations, her family has been called by the river god, who has guided their wherries on countless voyages throughout the Riverlands. At seventeen, Caro has spent years listening to the water, ready to meet her fate. But the river god hasn’t spoken her name yet—and if he hasn’t by now, there’s a chance he never will.

Caro decides to take her future into her own hands when her father is arrested for refusing to transport a mysterious crate. By agreeing to deliver it in exchange for his release, Caro finds herself caught in a web of politics and lies, with dangerous pirates after the cargo—an arrogant courier with a secret—and without the river god to help her. With so much at stake, Caro must choose between the life she always wanted and the one she never could have imagined for herself.”

Roar (Stormheart #1) by Cora Carmack | June 13, 2017

Yeah I’m just going to highlight all the awesomeness listed in the synopsis!!

(Goodreads synopsis) In a land ruled and shaped by violent magical storms, power lies with those who control them.

Aurora Pavan comes from one of the oldest Stormling families in existence. Long ago, the ungifted pledged fealty and service to her family in exchange for safe haven, and a kingdom was carved out from the wildlands and sustained by magic capable of repelling the world’s deadliest foes. As the sole heir of Pavan, Aurora’s been groomed to be the perfect queen. She’s intelligent and brave and honorable. But she’s yet to show any trace of the magic she’ll need to protect her people.

To keep her secret and save her crown, Aurora’s mother arranges for her to marry a dark and brooding Stormling prince from another kingdom. At first, the prince seems like the perfect solution to all her problems. He’ll guarantee her spot as the next queen and be the champion her people need to remain safe. But the more secrets Aurora uncovers about him, the more a future with him frightens her. When she dons a disguise and sneaks out of the palace one night to spy on him, she stumbles upon a black market dealing in the very thing she lacks—storm magic. And the people selling it? They’re not Stormlings. They’re storm hunters.

Legend says that her ancestors first gained their magic by facing a storm and stealing part of its essence. And when a handsome young storm hunter reveals he was born without magic, but possesses it now, Aurora realizes there’s a third option for her future besides ruin or marriage.

She might not have magic now, but she can steal it if she’s brave enough.

Challenge a tempest. Survive it. And you become its master.”

Bad Romance by Heather Demetrios | June 13, 2017

(Goodreads synopsis) Grace wants out. Out of her house, where her stepfather wields fear like a weapon and her mother makes her scrub imaginary dirt off the floors. Out of her California town, too small to contain her big city dreams. Out of her life, and into the role of Parisian artist, New York director—anything but scared and alone.

Enter Gavin: charming, talented, adored. Controlling. Dangerous. When Grace and Gavin fall in love, Grace is sure it’s too good to be true. She has no idea their relationship will become a prison she’s unable to escape.

Deeply affecting and unflinchingly honest, this is a story about spiraling into darkness—and emerging into the light again.”

Our Dark Duet (Monsters of Verity #2) by Victoria Schwab | June 13, 2017

Victoria Schwab has earned a place as an inta-buy author in my life with her Shades of Magic series. I enjoyed This Savage Song (Monsters of Verity #1) and am looking forward to continuing this journey.

(Goodreads synopsis *possible series spoilers*) Kate Harker is a girl who isn’t afraid of the dark. She’s a girl who hunts monsters. And she’s good at it. August Flynn is a monster who can never be human, no matter how much he once yearned for it. He’s a monster with a part to play. And he will play it, no matter the cost.

Nearly six months after Kate and August were first thrown together, the war between the monsters and the humans is terrifying reality. In Verity, August has become the leader he never wished to be, and in Prosperity, Kate has become the ruthless hunter she knew she could be. When a new monster emerges from the shadows—one who feeds on chaos and brings out its victim’s inner demons—it lures Kate home, where she finds more than she bargained for. She’ll face a monster she thought she killed, a boy she thought she knew, and a demon all her own.”

The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee | June 27, 2017

(Goodreads synopsis excerpt) An unforgettable tale of two friends on their Grand Tour of 18th-century Europe who stumble upon a magical artifact that leads them from Paris to Venice in a dangerous manhunt, fighting pirates, highwaymen, and their feelings for each other along the way.”

Yeah I’m sold! COUNT ME IN! Easily my most anticipated release of the summer!

Now I Rise (The Conqueror’s Saga #2) by Kiersten White | June 27, 2017

And I Darken (The Conqueror’s Saga #1) was a really enjoyable read so of course I’m really excited to see what my babies (I’m here for Radu mostly) are up to in this sequel!

(Goodreads synopsis excerpt) “As nations fall around them, the Dracul siblings must decide: what will they sacrifice to fulfill their destinies? Empires will topple, thrones will be won . . . and souls will be lost.”

YES YES YES! Oh my yes I’m here for this!

The Court of Broken Knives (Empires of Dust #1) by Anna Smith Spark | June 29, 2017

“The Court of Broken Knives” … honestly this is a case of connecting to a title and hoping for the best. Sounds like a solid fantasy read to me so here is hoping that Spark’s debut novel reads as good as that title sounds.

Like seriously … say that title a few times … see how pleasing it sounds? Ok I’m weird … leave me alone.

(Goodreads synopsis) “They’ve finally looked at the graveyard of our Empire with open eyes. They’re fools and madmen and like the art of war. And their children go hungry while we piss gold and jewels into the dust.

In the richest empire the world has ever known, the city of Sorlost has always stood, eternal and unconquered. But in a city of dreams governed by an imposturous Emperor, decadence has become the true ruler, and has blinded its inhabitants to their vulnerability. The empire is on the verge of invasion – and only one man can see it.

Haunted by dreams of the empire’s demise, Orhan Emmereth has decided to act. On his orders, a company of soldiers cross the desert to reach the city. Once they enter the Palace, they have one mission: kill the Emperor, then all those who remain. Only from ashes can a new empire be built.

The company is a group of good, ordinary soldiers, for whom this is a mission like any other. But the strange boy Marith who walks among them is no ordinary soldier. Marching on Sorlost, Marith thinks he is running away from the past which haunts him. But in the Golden City, his destiny awaits him – beautiful, bloody, and more terrible than anyone could have foreseen. “

Flight of a Starling by Lisa Heathfield | June 29, 2017

A YA contemporary about trapeze artist sisters! Unique.

(Goodreads synopsis) Rita and Lo, sisters and best friends, have spent their lives on the wing – flying through the air in their trapeze act, never staying in one place for long. Behind the greasepaint and the glitter, they know that the true magic is the family they travel with.

Until Lo meets a boy. Suddenly, she wants nothing more than to stay still. And as secrets start to tear apart the close-knit circus community, how far will Lo go to keep her feet on the ground?”
