August Outlook

July will be a Kindle Unlimited month for me so expect a lot of KU reads.

I will also be participating in a Throne of Glass series buddy read (continuing with Heir of Fire) with two of my favorite people and bloggers in the world Chelsea @ The Suspense is Thrilling Me (Check out her blog and most recent post!) and Solomon @ The Bookish King (check out his blog and most recent post!).

The Falling Kingdoms Fantasy League will be kicking off again with Gathering Darkness the first week of July.

I’ll be in Florida visiting family and enjoying the beach for the first week of this month, so I may be a little sporadic with my posting and with my reading but I will try to stay on track!

As always, I wish everyone a happy and enjoyable month!

How many books did you read this month? What was your favorite read? What are you looking forward to in the upcoming month?

I would love to hear about your month as well! Comment below!

Book Review | A Court of Wings and Ruin “Rant-view”

A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. MaasA Court of Wings and Ruin (A Court of Thorns and Roses #3) by Sarah J. Maas

Hardcover, 705 pages

Published May 2nd 2017 (aka “D-Day” or “Disappointment Day” )

2/5 stars?

#ACOWARsurvivor

Well 2017 is canceled because … what a fucking disappointment!

Wow … ok I struggled with this rating FOR REAL! Flip-flopping between 2 and 2.5 and even toying with the idea of a 1 when my ranting reminded me how pissed I was at this utter catastrophe of anticipation and hype!

But I’m going to try to keep a cool head here and rate it at a 2 because this is not a bad book? … but I have a shit tone of rants so be prepared to question my usage of that statement.

DON’T READ THIS REVIEW IF:

  • You love this book and cannot handle a differing opinion
  • Are easily offended
  • Can’t stand cursing especially the over-usage of the word FUCK
  • Plan to try and convince me this was an amazing book

Furthermore … this review CONTAINS MAJOR MAJOR MAJOR SERIES AND BOOK SPOILERS! I tried to mark them all with a red ⇒⇐ and light gray lettering but I may have missed a few so continue at your own risk.

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

Here.

We.

Go!

The Story

(Goodreads synopsis possible series spoilers): “Feyre has returned to the Spring Court, determined to gather information on Tamlin’s maneuverings and the invading king threatening to bring Prythian to its knees. But to do so she must play a deadly game of deceit—and one slip may spell doom not only for Feyre, but for her world as well. As war bears down upon them all, Feyre must decide who to trust amongst the dazzling and lethal High Lords—and hunt for allies in unexpected places.”

War has come to Pythian and blah de blah yeah … by now you know the story so let’s just skip this part ok.

“What, Where, Why” Wednesday

Every week I’m going to try and answer a What, Where, or Why question here on the blog. This week I am going with …

“What” Are You Reading Today?

Let’s be honest here … my currently reading shelf is a little bit out of control! I typically bounce around from book to book on a daily, sometimes hourly basis. Today however, I am trying to focus on the following two books. Why two books for the same day you ask? Well … It is an absolutely beautiful day outside today, albeit a bit hot. The sun is shining, there is a nice breeze on occasion, and quite simply I just love to sit in the sun! So what does this have to do with my reading? Well as you can see … I currently own a Kindle Fire tablet for reading e-books … and they are NOT a good choice for reading in the sun. For this reason, I typically have a backup hardcover book for reading when my Kindle becomes too annoying to ignore. So today, I am bouncing between the following two books and hoping I can go ahead and wrap them both up today (or at least very soon) and get them off my currently reading shelf!
