Monday is the day I get my life together … cleaning the house, grocery shopping, you know … all the boring adulting type things. So needless to say … I don’t get a lot of reading time in. Luckily I have a bit of an obsession with audiobooks which happen to be the perfect way to read and adult at the same time! So I have decided to start posting about my audio-reads on Mondays when I can.
Still toying with the name of this section though. Listening Monday? Multi-tasking Monday? What Are You Reading Audiobook Edition? I would love suggestions in the comments if you have any witty name ideas?
Narrated by: Mark Bramhall
Release Date: August 11, 2009
(Goodreads Synopsis): “Like everyone else, precocious high school senior Quentin Coldwater assumes that magic isn’t real, until he finds himself admitted to a very secretive and exclusive college of magic in upstate New York. There he indulges in joys of college-friendship, love, sex, and booze- and receives a rigorous education in modern sorcery. But magic doesn’t bring the happiness and adventure Quentin thought it would. After graduation, he and his friends stumble upon a secret that sets them on a remarkable journey that may just fulfill Quentin’s yearning. But their journey turns out to be darker and more dangerous than they’d imagined.”
I started this audiobook about a week ago, but then my phone broke and my Bluetooth headphones broke and I had about a million physical copy books to read so I only got about halfway through this one.
I typically don’t enjoy the “special school” plotline, but so far this book has been mildly enjoyable. It’s nothing epic by any means but it is interesting, well narrated, and well written. I am engaged in this world and the plights of the characters and look forward to finishing this book and continuing the series.
