Audiobook Monday | June.5.2017

Monday is the day I get my life together … cleaning the house, grocery shopping, you know … all the boring adulting type things. So needless to say … I don’t get a lot of reading time in. Luckily I have a bit of an obsession with audiobooks which happen to be the perfect way to read and adult at the same time! So I have decided to start posting about my audio-reads on Mondays when I can.

Still toying with the name of this section though. Listening Monday? Multi-tasking Monday? What Are You Reading Audiobook Edition? I would love suggestions in the comments if you have any witty name ideas?

The Magicians by Lev GrossmanThe Magicians (The Magicians #1) by Lev Grossman

Narrated by: Mark Bramhall

Release Date: August 11, 2009

Duration: 17:25:36

(Goodreads Synopsis): Like everyone else, precocious high school senior Quentin Coldwater assumes that magic isn’t real, until he finds himself admitted to a very secretive and exclusive college of magic in upstate New York. There he indulges in joys of college-friendship, love, sex, and booze- and receives a rigorous education in modern sorcery. But magic doesn’t bring the happiness and adventure Quentin thought it would. After graduation, he and his friends stumble upon a secret that sets them on a remarkable journey that may just fulfill Quentin’s yearning. But their journey turns out to be darker and more dangerous than they’d imagined.”

I started this audiobook about a week ago, but then my phone broke and my Bluetooth headphones broke and I had about a million physical copy books to read so I only got about halfway through this one.

I typically don’t enjoy the “special school” plotline, but so far this book has been mildly enjoyable. It’s nothing epic by any means but it is interesting, well narrated, and well written. I am engaged in this world and the plights of the characters and look forward to finishing this book and continuing the series.

What are you reading today? I would love to hear your thoughts. Comment below!

I just started listening to AB about a year ago for the same reason! Really makes that commute more enjoyable. I hope you enjoy the experience. Audible is great but make sure you check with your local library for information about the overdrive app if you don’t use it already. Tons of free audiobooks and ebooks offered through your library system.

I know! I have to admit I was a book snob once upon a time as well … but not only do audiobooks allow me to listen to awesome stories while completing my adult responsibilities … they add another level of experience (when done right).
Enjoy The Remnant Chronicles! Yet another thing I don’t get all the hate about. I love that series. Hope you enjoy!!

Audiobooks are great. I have a desk job, so I can usually listen for a few hours a day, and then a bit more when I walk the dog or go for a run.

Where do you get your ebooks? I was contemplating signing up with Audible, but then I noticed my public library has some online services that offer quite a few audiobooks.

As to potential names… Mixed-Media Monday? IDK. I like alliteration.

J.W. Audiobooks are GREAT for desk jobs.

I used to get my AB from Audible … but I canceled my membership when I realized how many free AB I could get through my local library with the Overdrive app! I assume this is the program you are referring to and I HIGHLY recommend it!

Oooh “Mixed Media Monday” … I like that! Alliteration makes me happy too. πŸ™‚
