The Copper Promise (The Copper Cat #1) by Jen Williams
I continued reading The Copper Promise. It got pushed to the backburner for a while but now I am focusing on it more. I just reached the 30% mark and it is a very interesting and enjoyable read. I love Wydrin and her snark. I love the brutal stuff … AND DRAGONS! So basically ALL GREAT THINGS! I am very much looking forward to reading more of this story over the following week.
Our Dark Duet (Monsters of Verity #2) by Victoria Schwab
I listened up to about 60% of this exciting and heartfelt audiobook while stuck in traffic for 15 hours on my way to go on vacation. This book definitely has me HOOKED! Schwab is masterful in her writing and storytelling and this series has been no exception ❤
Heir of Fire (Throne of Glass #3) by Sarah J Maas
I started this book a while ago when I finished Crown of Midnight. Unfortunately, I was not feeling it at the time so this book was moved to the backburner … and then into the currently reading list of forgetfulness.
But this week I re-started this book with a buddy read group and I am looking forward to getting back into this world.
Water’s Wrath (Air Awakens #4) by Elise Kova
I really enjoyed the first 3 books of this series but then I had to give up my Kindle Unlimited for a few months. Well I’m back and I’m looking forward to diving back into this world and seeing what my favorite characters are going to be up to this time!
I know a lot of people who put this book down after it “pissed them off” a little ways in … so I’m a bit worried.
Finished Reading
Hearts Are Like Balloons by Candace Robinson
This book was provided to me by the author Candace Robinson in exchange for review. This book was emotional and had some really great moments. The relationship was enjoyable. Although I had some issues with this book in the end, I thought it was a decent contemporary debut for this author. I ended up rating this 3/5 stars.
Eliza and Her Monsters by Francesca Zappia
This book was everything I wanted it to be when I picked up this super hyped contemporary! Let’s be honest … I haven’t had the best of luck with contemporaries as of late. I also have not had super good luck with hyped books in general. So … I was a little worried.
NO NEED TO WORRY THOUGH BECAUSE THIS BOOK WAS EVERYTHING! It was so beautiful and intricate and heartfelt and heartbreaking and heartwarming. A great read and a solid 5/5 stars.
Weekly Outlook
This next week I will be finishing up a few things on my Currently Reading list and adding a whole lot of new reads to the list! I am buddy-reading Heir of Fire (Throne of Glass #3) by Sarah J Maas (FINALLY!) with the lovely Chelsea @ The Suspense is Thrilling Me (Check out her blog and most recent post!) and Solomon @ The Bookish King (check out his blog and most recent post!).
The Falling Kingdoms Fantasy League will be starting with Gathering Darkness (Falling Kingdoms #3) this week.
I will be adding my bookish bestie to the blog as a guest reviewer soon which should be great! She reads more contemporary books while I tend to sway more toward the fantasy genre. I think this will be an awesome new partnership and allow me to get more reviews up on the blog in both genres. We also have a new idea for a fun conversation style buddy read review feature.
I’ll be Florida this week so I might be a little more sporadic in my posting through next week. But I will try to stay on track 🙂
As always, I wish everyone a happy and enjoyable week!
What books are you currently reading? What books did you recently finish reading? What do you have planned for the upcoming week?
I would love to hear about your week as well! Comment below!
I’m about 3/4 of the way through Red Sister by Mark Lawrence. I’m hoping to finish it in the next couple of days because the author is going to do a Q&A in my Goodreads group. 🙂

yesss omg QoS was wayyy better than HoF and i enjoyed EoS the most from the entire series (but dont hold me to that, it was more than a year ago)
*whispers* also i think you mistakened the eliza review (you rated it 3/5 – which i assume was meant for the KW book) AND ELIZA DOESNT DESERVE A 3/5 EVEN IF ITS A MISTAKE

Well obviously that was not meant for Eliza. It was a solid 5 stars and has been fixed.
Ugh this is what happens when I am trying to live a life away from the computer and go on vacation 😛
Yeah I changed some things around but didn’t get the descriptions changed on the last two there. An oversight as that whole comment was intended for another book entirely.
Thank you for pointing it out.

The Copper Promise sounds really great! And, of course, I’m planning to read Schwab’s duology soon as well 🙂
I wasn’t a fan of Heir of Fire. Actually, none of the books past Crown of Midnight did it for me, but I’ll continue on with the series just because I’m not a quitter lol
Elise Kova is one of my most anticipated writers to try out. I didn’t know people were pissed off about the forth book, though… Hmm, I wonder why. Still, I’ll definitely read Air Awakens and her Alchemists of Loom series as well.
Eliza and her Monsters has been on my radar for a while and I’m glad it’s everything you hoped for and more! Makes me even more excited to try it 🙂
Great post, Frankie!

As far as WW is concerned … I think the MC just does something really stupid and several of my friends have had to put the book on break. I guess I’ll find out soon.
Eliza was SO GOOD! And I’m not typically a huge cutsie contemporary lover. Eliza was everything though!
I really have only been able to get a few pages of HoF read and I have no motivation. I hope it’s just a fantasy slump because I do want to read the rest of the series, but I am concerned that CoM was it for me.
